PMU Foal Acquisiton Network, Inc.

PMU FANI is a volunteer, incorporated non-profit foal placement group dedicated to assisting farmers in the placement of PMU foals into responsible homes.

The PMU Foal Acquisition Network Inc. is registered as a non-profit corporation in the state of Illinois.

We are a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization.

We place foals throughout the US and  parts of Canada.

What is PMU?: PMU stands for Pregnant Mare Urine.

Estrogen extracted from pregnant mare urine (PMU) is used in the production of Premarin, a hormone replacement drug/therapy used for the treatment of post-menopausal women.

PMU Foal Acquisition Network’s basic philosophy is:

Our organization has a very strong guiding principle, which is that the focus must be on the placing of the foals, with the understanding that the ranchers have developed respectable breeding programs to meet an industry need.  We are not animal rights activists.  Our stand on educating women is this: each woman who is a candidate for estrogen replacement therapy should familiarize herself with the treatment options available to her, of which Premarin is one, and she should make an informed decision - with the assistance of her physician - as to which treatment option is best for her.  We cannot and will not pressure a woman to make a particular choice, and we are aware that for many women, Premarin is the only viable treatment option.”
