IMPORTANT NEWS!
Regular Season Update.
On
June 24, 2005, our NAERIC farmers/ranchers received
specific information regarding proposed equine sales. Please stand by
as we implement changes to our placement program. We will post photos
and start placing 2005 PMU foals as soon as possible. Thank you for
your continued patience.
Updates!
5/11/05- Wyeth Organics, a corporation that contracts PMU ranchers to collect urine from pregnant mares as announced that it is in the process of canceling contracts with a number of production farms/ranches in Canada and North Dakota. Manitoba is slated to become the primary production area with a total of 70 PMU producers. Wyeth's decision appears to reflect changes in the market demand for hormone therapy products. Wyeth continues to offer financial support to producers & contributes to the Equine Placement Fund.
5/12/05- PMU FANI believes that Wyeth will sign a contract with the: "L", "Y" & "J" (new 2005) farms, all of which FANI hopes to work with this 2005 adoption season. Unfortunately Wyeth has cancelled their contract with "A" & "G" farm, however; FANI will attempt to place the 2005 "A" & "G" foals. Approximately 300 foals. We will let you know as soon as negotiations are completed and we have more information.
Ongoing- Foals are being born, & will continue to do so into early June. As soon as our farmers contracts are firm & they catalog their foals we will post the pictures and make them available for adoption, this should be in mid to late June. Thank you for your continued patience, as always we attempt to provide information as soon as it becomes available, please check back here & on our E-mail list for updated information & announcements.
6/10/05- Extreme weather conditions: Our northern most farmers are still having difficulty cataloging their foals, due to the severe thunderstorms and rain on the prairies are making the fields difficult to negotiate and therefore delaying the cataloging of foals.. They are attempting to get as clear and concise photos as possible, in order to make placement easier.
6/15/05- Regular Adoption Season Update: PMU FANI has learned that NAERIC farmers/ranchers must submit requests to sell their 2005 foals, and that these requests will be evaluated by a committee. Farmers/ranchers requests were submitted and FANI has supplied information supporting these requests. The committee met on June 10, 2005; however, we do not know how long the evaluation process will take. The 2005 regular Adoption season may be delayed while the committee evaluates the farmers/ranchers requests. We will attempt to update to our email list and here, as soon as we are told any information.
6/20/05- "N" Farm yearling adoptions close tonight at 9pm EST. Thank you everyone for your support regarding these quality yearlings. There are foster yearlings available for adoption in various parts of the country, check the "N" Farm Yearlings page for photos and information regarding adoption, or contact adoptions@pmufoaladoption.org for detailed information.
6/20/05- At this time there has been no updated
information regarding placement of 2005 foals. We are anxiously awaiting news,
and promise to keep our potential adopters updated. Your continued patience is
appreciated.
